God, you are the one who made us,
and the one who gives us everything that we need to live.

You created us in your very own image, in your very own likeness,
and you created others to be our family and friends
so that we wouldn’t have to be alone.
In their love for us, you reveal your love for us.

Today, we pause to reflect on your awesome creation,
and the sacred beauty of human life at every stage,
from the instant we are formed, to the day we take our last breath.

Open our eyes, so that we might see your truth
in the tiny fingerprints of a newborn;
in the loving gaze of our friends, and the people we may one day call our spouses,
and in the guidance we receive from our parents.

Open our ears, so that we might hear your call
in the heartbeat of baby waiting to enter the world;
in the cry of the poor, the hungry, the lonely and the stranger;
in the wise words of our grandparents.

Open our hearts so that we might love
with the total confidence of a tiny child;
with the boundless energy of an adolescent;
and with the selflessness that comes with true maturity.

We ask all this in the name of your living love who walked the earth,
Jesus your Son, who lives and reigns with you in the Unity of the Holy Spirit,
one God, forever and ever. Amen.
